Shoes Make the Bulldog

Diary | March 18, 2026

I have made a groundbreaking discovery! You all know that shoes were never exactly my favorite thing. I didn’t hate them, I can walk in them just fine, but love them? Absolutely not. That is, until our trip to Český Krumlov.

I have made a groundbreaking discovery! You all know that shoes were never exactly my favorite thing. I didn’t hate them, I can walk in them just fine, but love them? Absolutely not. That is, until our trip to Český Krumlov.

Sometimes I drag my back paws a little, especially on concrete, and I scrape my nails too much. And that hurts. So I get preventive little booties, because ruining shoes is one thing, but ruining paws hurts. And honestly, worn-out shoes only hurt Traitor’s wallet. I’ve already destroyed three pairs this winter!

But in Krumlov, the ground looks like something from a medieval movie. Stone after stone after stone. And when it started raining, my paws began sliding in every direction. To prevent me from tweaking my back again, those two pulled me into a side alley and put on my stylish purple speed-walkers. And then, my friends, magic happened!

EVERYONE started noticing me! Not that it wasn’t already obvious that I am naturally stunning, but the shoes clearly boosted my cuteness factor and instantly became the perfect conversation starter for locals and tourists alike. And we loved that. The bipeds met wonderful people, and I got scratched behind the ears by what felt like the entire city.

Everyone was taking pictures of me, petting me, filming me. Most importantly, they made eye contact with me and came over to stroke me like that lucky dog statue on Charles Bridge. Humans, I was in heaven!

I especially adored the Asian tourists, who were completely enchanted by me and spoke to me in the cutest excited tones. I was bouncing like a little frog from all the attention. I came home handled like a public door handle, exhausted and incredibly happy.

The bipeds rated the trip highly too and declared we would return to Krumlov soon. Apparently, before we managed to distribute bulldog love to every single person, the shops closed, the sun set, and the only photo we have together is so blurry it looks like the camera had the same prescription as Hydra.

But it was the best trip ever. And today, just to be safe, I ordered new shoes so I’m fully prepared for the next dashing adventure. And trust me, I will absolutely be arriving in my brand-new sneakers.
